So I'm not entirely sure what's happening with our weather lately, but I'm sure not going to complain about it! We've been averaging in the 60's for the last few weeks or so and from the looks of it this is where we'll be staying for at least another week. Traditionally, by this time of the year in Minnesota we are prepping for cold weather and snow. We've broken out our Uggs and puffy winter coats. We've started bulking up for what's inevitably going to come our way. What we are NOT doing is fishing on Lake Mille Lacs in 70 degree weather! Or so one would think. Enter this past weekend...
Saturday's forecast called for calm winds and warm air temps. It was the perfect scenario for what will most likely be my last trip up to Lake Mille Lacs for the season before the snow starts flying. Josh wanted to get some footage for the Biovex Padas video that we've been working on so we loaded up the pup and headed north for the day. It was pretty chilly in the morning, but since the wind was non-existent, it wasn't so bad.
It didn't take long for the bite to be on! Josh was hooking up smallmouth bass left and right, with several walleye in there, too! It's too bad we aren't allowed to keep the walleye right now otherwise our freezer would have been stocked for winter! Kigs was also having a great day. He has always been one to be in constant "protector mode", so whenever I try to get a shot of him sleeping he's already on alert and wakes up right away. He must have had his guard down that day on the boat because I was able to slip in the first sleeping pic I've ever got of him. Isn't he adorable when he's sleeping?? He just melts his momma's heart..
Throw in a quick photo shoot with some L.S.D. Design bags and this was one damn productive day! We were able to get all the filming done that we needed to get the video made. Now I just need to sift through hours of footage and break out the good, the bad and the ugly. Wish me luck!
Hey there -
I'm Bri! Lover of food, wine, and photography that is currently traveling with my professional bass fishing husband along with our cantankerous rottie, Kigen. When not traveling you can find me living the lake life off the shores of Lake Mille Lacs in Isle, MN. Pour a drink, pull up a chair and join me as I journey across the country documenting it all along the way!
