So I'm not entirely sure what's happening with our weather lately, but I'm sure not going to complain about it! We've been averaging in the 60's for the last few weeks or so and from the looks of it this is where we'll be staying for at least another week. Traditionally, by this time of the year in Minnesota we are prepping for cold weather and snow. We've broken out our Uggs and puffy winter coats. We've started bulking up for what's inevitably going to come our way. What we are NOT doing is fishing on Lake Mille Lacs in 70 degree weather! Or so one would think. Enter this past weekend...
Back in August, I was contracted by Outkast Tackle to do some product photography and videography for some of the items in their line. I've had the majority of them completed for awhile now, knowing that they were going up on their Tackle Warehouse product pages and not so much for social media. I'm happy to say that the videos are now live on their website and available for your viewing pleasure! Go check them out here and maybe pick up a few jigs while you're at it!
It's finally the off-season so that means we get to take a vacation for some good 'ole family fun! Josh and I had been mulling over where to go this year, but since we wanted to keep expenses low we decided to head out to Colorado to visit his parents, and spend a few extra days driving home through South Dakota. In the 16 years we have been doing the drive out there, we have never taken this route home. Jokes on us! We've been missing out on some serious scenery this entire time!
The fall colors are finally starting to show themselves around the cities so it seemed like the perfect opportunity to get a couple of shoots done with 2 families that are very dear to me. The first one I did was with my brother and his bunch. They wanted to get some shots of the four of them as well as some additional ones with my sister-in-laws family. We went to a trail located behind their development to start off and ended up at their house towards the end. I knew I was going to have my work cut out for me as my nephew is on the autism spectrum and absolutely hates the camera. He's not talking yet and expresses himself emotionally so it can be a challenge to figure out a good way for him to smile for pictures. I don't usually shoot family scenes in shutter priority but since time was of the essence, I didn't want to waste potential moments with manual mode. This seems to have paid off and I'm super happy with how the pictures turned out even though the group shot was a bit of a struggle (as seen above)!
This past weekend, the final regular season Elite Series tournament was held on the Mississippi River out of LaCrosse, WI. Our good friend and fellow angler, Seth Feider went into this tournament in 69th place for Angler of the Year standings. In the beginning, he was told that he had a slim to none chance of making it to the last event of the year which is they AOY tournament being held this weekend on Lake Mille Lacs which is about an hour and a half north of Minneapolis. Since he is the only angler from Minnesota fishing the Elites, he would have the ultimate hometown advantage. If he was to going to make it in, he would need to be in the top 50 anglers.
Hey there -
I'm Bri! Lover of food, wine, and photography that is currently traveling with my professional bass fishing husband along with our cantankerous rottie, Kigen. When not traveling you can find me living the lake life off the shores of Lake Mille Lacs in Isle, MN. Pour a drink, pull up a chair and join me as I journey across the country documenting it all along the way!
