And it's kinda perfect. It's everything that Josh and I need to live the life that we have been working so hard towards. It also happened VERY fast. We had been in the market for a property since this summer, but nothing was catching our eye for the area we wanted so we put the thought on the back burner for a bit. Fast forward to early December when we were on our way up to see a few properties. We had received a text from Josh's dad about a house in Isle, MN that had been on the market for over a year (how had we never seen it before?!?). After a quick call to the realtor, we were checking out the house a few short hours later. It was going to need some updating, but it has good bones and to us, that is all that matters. We tend to like to put our own stamp on things so this place completely fit the bill. The house itself is only 800 sq feet, which is perfect for me because that means cleaning it will be a breeze. Plus, it comes with a 2600 sq foot pole barn so that made the husband beyond elated. I love when we both come out winners!
How is possible that the end of 2016 is only days away?!? Holy moly this year went so fast! Don’t think I’m complaining, because I am ready to take on 2017 like never before. This next year is going to be a big one for the Douglas’s and I can’t wait to share with you what’s up our sleeve. But until then, you’ll just have to settle for what we were up to over the holiday weekend.
You may recall my post from last week when Josh and I were up on Mille Lacs doing some shooting for a video we're working on for the Biovex Padas. Well, after several long evenings of endless editing I can finally say that we have a finished product! Whenever I'm making these videos for Josh, I just assume that they will be going on his personal YouTube page at which point he will then share it on various social media sites. NEVER do I think that what I am working on will just get picked up a major fishing publication. So when we got the call from Bassmaster that they wanted to run the video exclusively on their site, I can not explain the level of excitement that we got over that! They ran another one of our videos a few months ago with a great response and to have them pick up this production from "The Widow" is beyond humbling! I don't think I can give a big enough THANK YOU to the powers that be over there for this amazing exposure. Hope you guys enjoy it, you can check it out on the BASS site here.
You may recall about a month ago when I got out with a couple of families for some fall pictures. The second part of my photo shoot day led me to Arneson Acres in my hometown of Edina where I met up with my girl, Luanne and her two children. I've known Lu since she was pregnant with her son, Mavrik, managing at the bar my husband worked at. We went out for sushi one night to get to know each other and it's been history ever since!
So I'm not entirely sure what's happening with our weather lately, but I'm sure not going to complain about it! We've been averaging in the 60's for the last few weeks or so and from the looks of it this is where we'll be staying for at least another week. Traditionally, by this time of the year in Minnesota we are prepping for cold weather and snow. We've broken out our Uggs and puffy winter coats. We've started bulking up for what's inevitably going to come our way. What we are NOT doing is fishing on Lake Mille Lacs in 70 degree weather! Or so one would think. Enter this past weekend...
Hey there -
I'm Bri! Lover of food, wine, and photography that is currently traveling with my professional bass fishing husband along with our cantankerous rottie, Kigen. When not traveling you can find me living the lake life off the shores of Lake Mille Lacs in Isle, MN. Pour a drink, pull up a chair and join me as I journey across the country documenting it all along the way!
