Afterward, we high-tailed it over to the Minneapolis Farmers Market for the first time this year. If you have never been, then get your butt down there. It is easily one of my favorite summertime activities in Minnesota. We got all sorts of tasty treats along with some rhubarb and strawberries that I will hopefully be making into jam soon if I can actually find the time to do it! If not, I'll just be freezing everything to throw in my smoothies. We also picked up all the herbs needed to get our garden going again for the year. We decided not to do tomatoes and peppers like we normally do, largely because we really haven't had much luck with them lately and I'm kinda sick of the letdown. I can make herbs work though so that's what we're sticking with! Once we got back to the house, I got everything planted and cleaned up the patio so it didn't look like a bunch of bums lived there anymore. It is so nice to have my summertime patio back where I can read and sip a frosty beverage to my little hearts content!
On Sunday morning, my husband woke me up at the butt-crack of dawn so we could head up to Lake Mille Lacs for a family fishing day. Initially, we weren't going to take Kigen because it is such a big fishery and can make for some nasty waves, but when he saw his dad pull that boat out of the garage and he got those sad eyes when we told him he wasn't coming with, we didn't have the heart to follow through with the decision so he came, too! In the end, it really wasn't an issue because we stuck to the areas that had little to no wind so he didn't get thrown around. Josh was catching one smallmouth bass after the other and I even managed to catch a few myself! I caught my first 5.5 pounder through sight fishing and then called it a day to take to other activities like painting my toe nails and reading a book. In between all that I took Kigs swimming at one of the beaches so he could cool down. As much as I love fishing with my husband, I can't do it ALL day like he can so I need to make sure I have something with me to keep me occupied. It works well, because he gets to be in his happy place with his fam and I'm not knotting up his lines and throwing my lures into trees all day. Win win!
Josh had a webinar on Monday night so I took that day off of work so I could help him get the presentation together. I love days like those because I have his undivided attention (most of the time) and we work really well together in business situations. The webinar went off without a hitch and if you have any interest in watching it, you can view it below. It's all about cartography and breaking down your lake maps. Enjoy!
Hey there -
I'm Bri! Lover of food, wine, and photography that is currently traveling with my professional bass fishing husband along with our cantankerous rottie, Kigen. When not traveling you can find me living the lake life off the shores of Lake Mille Lacs in Isle, MN. Pour a drink, pull up a chair and join me as I journey across the country documenting it all along the way!
