Any day I get to spend with my mom is a winner, but there's something about Mothers Day that makes it extra special. Maybe because it's all about celebrating her and all she's done for me and my family. Maybe it's because even though she's appreciated every day, she gets this day to feel all the extra feels. And maybe, when I'm with her on this day I get to celebrate being a dog mom in a world that doesn't really recognize our roll. Society can be so obtuse.
We spent the day at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. I had never been there before and my mom had only been during the fall so it was new to both of us. My oh my was this place a flower lovers dream! The grounds cover several miles of all areas of horticulture. The 30,000+ tulips were in full bloom along with the rhododendron, lilacs, crab apples and iris, to name a few. Plus considering how big the property is, we got in some serious walking time! I brought my camera along for any photo-op that may come my way and I'm so glad I did! There are so many of these that I want to see hanging on my wall!
After we were done at the Arboretum, we headed over to my brother and sister-in-laws house for dinner and to hang with the babes for a bit. I hadn't seen my niece, Cora, in far too long and was so glad that she was in good spirits for our visit. I've heard that the little stinker has been quite colicky lately so we weren't sure what to expect. She's a little over 3 months old now and is well on her way to a future in sumo wrestling. I mean, the pudge factor is real. She is just the cutest dang thing. Ugh! My nephew, Camden, is almost 3 and is already so well behaved. For the most part. There were a few instances where he seemed to enjoy taking a drink of water, holding it in his mouth, and making us guess whether he was going to actually swallow it or just spit it out randomly. And even though we were all rooting for him to spit it out all over his dad's face, he swallowed it like a good kid. So young and already making good choices. Love him.
Hey there -
I'm Bri! Lover of food, wine, and photography that is currently traveling with my professional bass fishing husband along with our cantankerous rottie, Kigen. When not traveling you can find me living the lake life off the shores of Lake Mille Lacs in Isle, MN. Pour a drink, pull up a chair and join me as I journey across the country documenting it all along the way!
