Holy crap, our house is finally move-in ready. Thank heavens, because I’m not sure that I had another weekend of manual labor in me. If I was ever on the fence about having carpal tunnel before the reno, I can definitely confirm it now. I’m also fairly confident that the dog thinks we’re bat-shit crazy since all we do every weekend now is go up to that house and feel up the walls day and night. Can’t say I blame him. We did so much painting recently that when I went to bed I was having dreams about painting, too. That’s when you know it’s time to put the paint roller down and walk away. For the time being, I don’t have any “final” pics to show you since we finished up late Saturday night and left for home on Sunday at 4am. Thought it might also be nice to have some furniture in there before the big reveal. You know, for effect. The move is happening in a few weeks so all of us will just have to be patient.
Another weekend, another exciting progress update! Since I had a 3 day weekend this go-round, I had a much needed extra day to get stuff done. We got so much accomplished this weekend, that we are now officially ahead of schedule! Never thought that would be a thing with the way these renovations have been going. I got up to the house on Saturday morning and immediately went to work. Since Josh kicked ass down on Lake Travis for the 2nd stop of the FLW Tour, but not quite enough ass kicking to fish day 3, that meant that he was officially on his way home which meant that I needed to kick it into high gear to get the walls prepped so we could start painting. Not sure if I've mentioned it before, but Josh has a pretty debilitating dust allergy, so I was in a major time crunch to get all the walls spackled, sanded and washed before he made it back into town. My dad was up for most of Saturday helping me out and we were actually able to get all of it done as well as painting the first coat in our bedroom!
And it's kinda perfect. It's everything that Josh and I need to live the life that we have been working so hard towards. It also happened VERY fast. We had been in the market for a property since this summer, but nothing was catching our eye for the area we wanted so we put the thought on the back burner for a bit. Fast forward to early December when we were on our way up to see a few properties. We had received a text from Josh's dad about a house in Isle, MN that had been on the market for over a year (how had we never seen it before?!?). After a quick call to the realtor, we were checking out the house a few short hours later. It was going to need some updating, but it has good bones and to us, that is all that matters. We tend to like to put our own stamp on things so this place completely fit the bill. The house itself is only 800 sq feet, which is perfect for me because that means cleaning it will be a breeze. Plus, it comes with a 2600 sq foot pole barn so that made the husband beyond elated. I love when we both come out winners!
